An AI work journal should save friction, not summaries

The useful part of a project is often the moment an assumption broke, not a polite recap of everything that happened.

I do not need another tool that tells me I edited five files, ran three tests, and had a productive afternoon. The terminal already knows that, and it is not especially moved by the achievement.

The more interesting product would notice the moments with tension:

  • the “simple” feature that grew six edge cases;
  • the workaround that was better than the elegant plan;
  • the task I kept polishing because the next step felt uncomfortable;
  • the prompt that saved enough time to be worth reusing.

That would feel less like automated meeting minutes and more like a searchable record of how the work changed my mind.
