Label made-up catalogue data before it becomes real by accident

Test products, prices, stock, and descriptions need an explicit review boundary so placeholders do not quietly become business facts.

A development shop needs products before every real supplier detail is available. That is fine. The dangerous part is how quickly a plausible price, origin, or stock number starts looking official once it sits inside a polished product card.

Keep provisional catalogue data in a reviewable manifest, give every item a stable identifier, and label the whole set as test data. Verify the mechanics without pretending the business details are settled. A placeholder wearing good typography is still a placeholder.
