My booking system was ready before I was ready to promote it
Improving the workflow felt productive, but it also gave me a respectable excuse to postpone the uncomfortable work of finding people who might use it.
A booking system is wonderfully generous with improvement ideas. Better reminder emails. Smarter questionnaires. Cleaner cancellation handling. A nicer message when somebody fills only half the form. Every edge case comes with a satisfying little checkbox.
Promoting the offer comes with something less comfortable: the possibility that nobody books. So I could keep improving the machinery and feel productive without learning whether the offer had any demand at all. Convenient coincidence.
The system did need to work. It did not need to become my hiding place.
